Every Labor Day weekend, about 150 “Angels”—children of incarcerated parents—attend Camp Agape, sponsored by the Camp Agape Hawaii. The camp first started in 2005 and stems from a mission to share God’s love with children whose parents are in prison. “Agape” love is always the theme at the camp, as volunteers and junior mentors strive to demonstrate the love of Christ to the camp attendees. Camp Agape is an annual, four-day event filled with an intentional series of activities and events that facilitate the sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through love, trust, forgiveness and hope.
Camp Agape reaches out to children of Hawaii’s incarcerated; most who are hurting and do not personally know Jesus’ love for them. It is our prayer that every moment at camp, whether an activity, meal, craft, conversation or game, would be an opportunity to introduce these Angels to the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ!
Due to COVID-19 protocol, we will only be able to accept a limited number of volunteers, mentors and Angels at camp this year. Priority will be given to volunteers that can serve for all 4 days, and those that do serve may be asked to fill multiple roles. To keep our angels as safe as possible, there will be a requirement for all volunteers to be vaccinated or test positive for COVID antibodies. Only those that are approved by a Camp Agape leader will be able to serve at camp.
